La Verne is at the east end of the San Gabriel Valley, at the foot of the San Gabriel Mountains, between San Dimas and Claremont, with the 210 along its north side. Around Old Town and the university the houses are older, some from before the war. Up toward the foothills they are newer and bigger, on sloped lots with tile roofs. The two halves of town are different remodel jobs.
